What to know about Cumin:

Did you know 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds can give you 8% of your RDA for iron?

Cumin is a member of the parsley family and native from the east Mediterranean to India and is used in a huge variety of cuisines. Cumin is sometimes confused with caraway and even black cumin but neither of these are substitutes. Cumin is hotter to taste, lighter in colour and larger while black cumin seeds (or nigella or kalonji seeds as they are otherwise known) are much smaller and black in colour and have a more bitter taste.

These are, hands down, the freshest cumin seeds I've bought.  I grind them up in my mortar and pestle and use them in guacamole, salad dress, chili, curries.

I put cumin seeds on top of a loaf of bread, before baking it. The bread tastes wonderful with Dhal or vegetable curries.
